Ketanji Onyika Brown Jackson is the first woman of African-American descent to serve on the Supreme Court. She was sworn in as associate justice on November 16, 2018, replacing retired Justice Anthony Kennedy. She is the second Indian American to serve on the Supreme Court and the first woman of Native American heritage to serve as an Associate Justice.
